The 62-year-old tavern owner and her alleged accomplice, charged with the double murder of a Windvogel father and his son, abandoned their bids for bail.
Norma Jacobs and her co-accused, Thembisihle Selani, 43, have been charged with the murders and kidnapping of 45-year-old Edwin de Vos and his 19-year-old son, Leonardo.
The pair appeared in the Gqeberha Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Jacobs informed the court that she was abandoning bail for fear of her safety, even though the state did not oppose her release pending the finalisation of the trial.
Algoa FM News has reliably learned that Jacobs had received numerous threats from the community.
Edwin and Leonardo's bodies were discovered next to a gravel road near Addo last week.
Both had sustained gunshot wounds.
The father and son were both mechanics.
It is alleged that they had done repair work to Jacobs' vehicle, before their deaths.
The man and his son were last seen alive when they left their home in Windvogel with Jacobs, allegedly to go and inspect her vehicle.
The case against Selani was remanded to Friday.
Jacobs will appear in court again on 2 October.
