Police have identified the two women who were gunned down in Kwazakhele in Gqeberha on Thursday morning.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said they were Norma Fundaphi, said to be about 50 years old and her daughter, Sephelokazi, said to be in her twenties.
They died when shots were fired at their car on Daku Street Thursday morning, by two gunmen.
Naidu said the shooting occurred moments after one of the women returned to the vehicle after they stopped to buy chickens.
The driver was wounded in her right thigh, while a baby boy, who was with his deceased mother in the back seat, was shot in the arm.
The motive for the double murder is not yet known, and police said the deceased were from Unit 10 in Motherwell.
Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation should contact the nearest police station.
