The Dietrich Primary School in Schauderville in Gqeberha will hold a memorial service on Friday for a young learner who perished in a horror accident this past weekend.

Oyisa Breakfast (14) was among the six people who died in collision between a car and a bakkie on the M17 between Motherwell and Kwazakhele early on Saturday morning.

Six other people were admitted to hospital with injuries.

Principal Chantel Milborrow urged learners to come to school in full uniform on Friday for the memorial service.

She said they want to use the opportunity to remind learners of the importance of living a full life, and also of making an impact and leaving a legacy behind for other learners.

Milborrow said young Oyisa had a close knit group of friends at school and wanted to urge them to celebrate his life.

“We would also like to encourage them not to be overcome by grief but rather to remember Oyisa for the person that he was, and the impact that he had on their lives,” she added.

Saturday morning's accident in Gqeberha was one of several accidents reported by Eastern Cape authorities over the weekend which claimed the lives of at least 12 people.
