Gqeberha police are seeking the community's assistance in identifying a decomposed body that was found in a drain.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said municipal workers were busy with electrical installations in Paterson Road in North End on Thursday morning when one of them noticed the body inside the drain located next to the road.
Colonel Naidu said police were contacted and the body was retrieved.
She said the deceased is a male - however due to the advanced decomposition, his race and age could not be determined.
An inquest docket is opened for investigation.
Colonel Naidu said police are appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the deceased, or may know of any person who may be missing, to contact SAPS Mount Road on 041 394 6316/6243 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
