Desmond Share

An extensive search is underway for a man from Hartenbos on the Garden Route who disappeared without a trace three days ago.

Desmond Share, 53, was reported missing by his family at the Da Gamaskop police station.

On Friday, police confirmed that they were investigating a case of kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle.

Share's vehicle was last spotted on Tuesday evening around 18:06 at a petrol station near Buffelsjagsrivier outside Swellendam.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said Share left Hartenbos on Tuesday morning to do work in Herbertsdale, but he never returned home.

Algoa FM News has reliably learned that money had been withdrawn from Share's account on two occasions, while CCTV at the petrol station showed two occupannts in Share's vehicle, a white Ford Ranger bakkie.

Family friend, Benna van den Bergh, said search teams also found the missing man's glasses at a scene in Herbertsdale.

Da Gamaskop CPF has asked the community's assistance to help locate Share

and to be on the lookout for the vehicle between Swellendam and Cape Town.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact their nearest police station.
