Gqeberha police are seeking the next of kin or anyone who can help identify a man who was beaten to death in North End on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says a witness sleeping in Broad Street reported hearing a commotion in the early hours of that morning but was too afraid to investigate.
She says he contacted the police at daylight and the body of the unknown man was found with multiple injuries.
Janse Van Rensburg says the deceased also had three puncture marks on his chest.
Anyone who can assist in the investigation should contact their nearest police station.
The deceased is a coloured male in his fifties, dressed in a pair of black "terraPOD" safety boots, a navy tracksuit with three white stripes on both sides, a blue zip-up tracksuit top branded "Hemisphere" and a grey T-shirt.
