Gqeberha police are investigating the murder of a man and a woman who were shot in Motherwell on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu', said the incident happened at around 3.30 pm when several men in a Silver VW Polo arrived at a house in Centane Street in Unit 4, Motherwell.
“The two victims went out to investigate who was in the yard when they were confronted by two men, wielding firearms. As they ran back to the house, several shots were fired at them,” Naidu said.
She said 24-year-old Luyanda Mati sustained multiple bullet wounds, while 36-year-old Akona Waki sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and died later on the way to the hospital.
“The motive for the murders is unknown at this stage,” Naidu said.
She said police are appealing to the public for any help in tracing a Silver VW Polo used by the attackers to contact SAPS Ikamvelihle, Detective Captain Debbie Steyn on 082 394 8369 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.
