A 28-year old man from Gqeberha has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 42-year-old Ettiene Danster in May 2020.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Leeroy Leornard was sentenced yesterday to an additional five years for attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani says Danster was walking with his girlfriend in Gelvandale when Leornard approached them and asked him for his cellphone.
When Danster responded that he did not have one, Leornard took out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
He died at the scene.
Danster’s girlfriend was not injured during the incident.
