A 25-year-old Gqeberha man has been jailed for a total of 33 years after being convicted on numerous charges including the murder of an innocent bystander.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Granwill Bailey was sentenced in the High Court on Friday.
NPA spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani, said he was sentenced to 17 years for the death of Mirlene Wilson, who was killed when Bailey fired shots at a man in Arcadia on 5 January 2020.
He was arrested four days later.
Ngcakani said Bailey was sentenced to an additional six years for attempted murder, seven years for the unlawful possession of a firearm, and a further three years for the unlawful possession of ammunition.
She said he was, however, acquitted on two other charges of attempted murder.
