Police are investigating cases of attempted murder and business robbery after the owner of a Superette in Bluewater Bay in Gqeberha was shot and wounded on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the incident occurred at about 20:30 when three men entered the shop in Jennifer Street and held the complainant and the owner at gunpoint.
She said the men took cash, sweets, and hookah pipes and after exiting the shop immediately returned.
“The complainant ran into another room when he heard two shots going off. The owner of the shop was shot in the face and arm,” she added.
Police are investigating cases of business robbery and attempted murder.
Meanwhile, Naidu said earlier in the day a case of theft of a firearm was opened at SAPS Motherwell where it is alleged that a 15-year-old teenager had taken his father’s firearm.
“The father on realising that the firearm was taken, opened a case.”
Naidu said the teenager was detained at Nerina House juvenile detention centre and charged with the theft of the firearm. He will appear in the juvenile court on Thursday.
Detectives are also probing a possible link to the business robbery, but Naidu said at this stage, no one has been arrested for the Bluewater Bay business robbery and attempted murder.
