Eastern Cape police have arrested a mother for allegedly killing her four children with a hammer.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, says the grim family tragedy played out early on Wednesday in a locality near Ngcobo.
He says the bodies of the children, aged between two and 11, were found on Wednesday morning in the rondavel where they were sleeping with their 32-year-old mother.
Kinana says after a preliminary investigation, the woman was arrested and charged.
The children sustained serious injuries to their upper bodies.
The victims were identified as 11-year-old Lizalise; nine-year-old Inganathi; five-year-old Othalive and two-year-old Elihle.
