A Gqeberha woman who allegedly hurled battery acid into a teenager's face appeared in the Gelvandale Magistrate's Court earlier today.
54-year-old Elaine Tamana has been charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Tamana approached the teenager at the main gate of the De Vos Malan Primary School in Lawler Street, in Schauderville on Monday.
It is alleged that Tamana threw battery acid in the victim's direction, injuring her left eye and the back left side of her head.
The accused will remain in custody until her next court appearance on Tuesday.
The matter was set down for a formal bail application.
