A 50-year-old man was assaulted with a knife and golf club on Wednesday morning after unknown male suspects gained entry to his house.
Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the home invasion occurred shortly after 5 am in Crestview Villas on Avondale Road in Kabega Park.
He says the man managed to fight off his attackers and locked them in a room before seeking help from his neighbours.
Captain Beetge says the suspects managed to break out of the room and fled the scene.
He says it is not yet clear if the suspects took any valuables from the scene as the victim was taken to hospital to be treated for his wounds.
Police are investigating a case of house robbery and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
