A Gqeberha man who allegedly fired the gun that fatally wounded a 16-month-old infant, made a brief appearance in the Motherwell Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Thirty-one-year-old Mandla Menze has been charged with the murder of Luhlelunje Mdingi in Unit 8 in Motherwell on Tuesday night.
According to police, the infant's aunt was carrying him in her arms when the shooting took place.
Menze's attorney, Bond Nyoka, told the court that his client had two previous convictions.
He also said his client is currently out on bail on a pending case of the unlawful possession of ammunition.
The case was postponed to 11 December for a formal bail application.
