A Gqeberha butchery shop employee was wounded during an attempted robbery in Sidwell on Thursday morning.
Police captain, Andre' Beetge, said the employee arrived at the butchery in Sutton Road at around 6.20 am, when he was accosted by three men who tried to rob him.
He said a shootout erupted between the employee and the suspects, with the employee wounded in the ankle.
Beetge said the suspects fled a white VW Polo, but he said it was unclear if any of them were also injured.
He said just before the incident the suspects went to a pie shop next door and asked to buy food but they were told by that the shop was still closed.
Algoa Park SAPS are investigating a case of attempted business robbery.
