Residents in Port Elizabeth and surrounds were woken up in the early hours of Thursday morning by thunderstorms which lashed the area with strong winds and rain.
PE weather office spokesperson, Garth Sampson, released the rainfall figures for the 24 hour period up until 8 o'clock.
At the Port Elizabeth airport, 32 mm were measured.
West of the city, 42 mm fell at the Van Stadens wildflower reserve and 48mm at Blue Horizon Bay.
Other readings range between only 1 mm in Uitenhage to 26mm at an official meter in the Sherwood Rowallanpark area.
There were also good rainfall in the Garden Route - 44 mm were measured at Storms River and 25mm in George.
Elsewhere, 26 mm fell at Patensie, 22mm in Barkly East and 10mm in Mthatha.
Sampson says the weather should clear up during the day and sunny conditions are expected for the weekend.
