About 1000 Older Persons from eight Eastern Cape Districts, are participating at this year's Provincial Golden Games Festival at the University Of Fort Hare in Alice on Wednesday.
The festival hosted by the province's Social Development Department under the theme “Celebrating Active Aging” "is a vehicle to promote the well being of older persons from age 60 and above."
MEC, Nancy Sihlwayi, said the three day event "is to encourage a healthy lifestyle for older persons through creation of recreational and sporting opportunities."
Sihlwayi said her department wants to help "enhance the quality of life for older persons and to embrace active aging."
