A 7-year-old girl, Jamelee Martin was killed on Monday afternoon, and a 7-year-old boy seriously injured when they fell and landed under a vehicle at Stormsriver.
Police warrant officer Gerda Swart says the driver, a 41-year-old man, was travelling with learners from the Woodlands Primary school towards Robhoekfarm in the Stormsriver area when the accident happened.
On the gravel road of Robbehoek, some of the learners apparently got onto the back of the tow bar and the bumper of the 15-seater bus.
Swart says the driver did not notice this and reversed.
The two children were run over in the process.
Jamelee was killed and her 7-year-old school friend was admitted with serious injuries to the Kareedouw Hospital.
No arrests were made and Stormsriver police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
