The humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers, will be visiting 18 of the 20 villages affected by an F3 tornado which ploughed its way through parts of the OR Tambo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday.
The organisation's Ali Sablay says they arrived on Thursday to assist two villages affected by the storm.
Three people died, and 40 people were hospitalised, after sustaining injuries.
According to the organisation, houses, schools and clinics were damaged and livestock swept away in raging rivers.
The director of the Gift of the Givers, Imtiaz Sooliman, says given the scale of the destruction public support is welcome.
Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has called on the mayors of the various municipalities affected, to speed up their disaster declarations.
He says this will allow them to access available government funding to help with the disaster restoration process.
Mabuyane also sent his condolences to the families who lost loved ones to the storm on Tuesday night.
