A 50-year-old German visitor is recovering in hospital following a paragliding accident at Gericke's Point near Sedgefield on the Garden Route.
The spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute, Craig Lambinon said the man sustained serious injuries after crashing into a rocky dune.
"Rescue resources responded and on arrival at Swartvlei beach our NSRI all-terrain rescue vehicle was utilised to transport rescuers and equipment closer to the scene along the beach," says Lambinon.
He also says that after the patient was stabilised, he was transferred to a stretcher and carried to the waiting rescue vehicles.
"The patient was transported by a Metro Rescue all-terrain vehicle, along the beach, to the Swartvlei Beach parking area."
Lambinon said he was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition
