A woman who is accused of strangling a dog called Tamone will appear in the George Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Timone was the beloved pet of a George resident and a cross breed between a Staffordshire terrier and a Jack Russel.
The Senior inspector of the Garden Route SPCA Salome Buys says the incident happened in George on the 2nd of November.
She says on the day of the incident she received a call from Tamone's distressed owner. When she arrived on the scene she found the dog with a piece of wire around her neck, hanging from a water pump.
The suspect, who is also the man's neighbour admitted to killing Tamone but claimed that the dog had attacked her.
Bruyns says however that the women had no visible injuries.
