A traffic officer will appear in the George magistrate's court on Tuesday on charges of corruption.
He was one of two Western Cape traffic officers arrested on Monday following a probe into complaints from motorists who alleged that they had solicited bribes.
The other traffic officer will appear in court in Cape Town.
Western Cape Community Safety Minister, Dan Plato, says his government has a zero tolerance towards corruption.
His spokesperson, Greg Wagner..
"Minister Plato said that he welcomes these arrests and want to send a strong message to all other employees that all other corruption will not be tolerated by the Western Cape government or the provincial traffic services. The arrests follow a thorough investigation by SAPS and the Western Cape department of community safety"
