Police on the Garden Route are hunting for the gunman who shot and killed the chairperson of the Uncedo Taxi Association in George on Thursday night.
53-year-old, Wesley Mini, was shot several times in front of his home after he returned from a meeting at the Thembalethu taxi rank.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, told Algoa FM News that Mini's body was found with gunshot wounds to his body and head by his son who ran outside after hearing a volley of shots being fired.
When police arrived on the scene shortly after 10pm Mini was already declared dead.
Pojie urged the public to come forward with any information regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape police are investigating a case of murder after the body of an elderly woman was found in her home in the Tuku Administrative area in Bell.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said the body of the 80-year-old woman was found by friend on Thursday night who became concerned that she had last seen her friend on Wednesday evening.
Govender said she knocked several times before entering the unlocked house and found the woman's body in a pool of blood on the floor in the room.
Police have appealed to members of the public who may have information on the case to contact their nearest police station.
