George police are appealing to the community in the Hoekwil/Touwsranten rural area for help in a hit and run investigation.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, issued the appeal after the body of a man was found on the side of the road near Hoekwil road on Sunday.
He said paramedics were responding to an unrelated call when they spotted a jacked lying in the road and also noticed signs of a possible accident.
Pojie said the paramedics inspected the area and discovered the body of a man believed to be in his fifties.
Police were alerted and began investigating the incident.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
