George Municipal Manager Trevor Botha and the director of community services Walter Hendricks have both asked the municipality to terminate their contracts.
Municipality spokesperson Chantel Edward-Klose says the George Council has approved an all-inclusive ten month severance package as final settlement that will result in Botha ceasing his employment agreement with immediate effect.
She says with regards to Hendricks, the council has agreed to an all-inclusive five month severance package and he will also leave his position immediately.
Their requests follow a report with findings indicating disciplinary steps against Botha and Hendricks with regards to fraud and corruption at the George Municipality.
Following the termination of their contracts, Edward-Klose says disciplinary steps will therefore not continue against them.
However, she says the termination of their employment agreements in no way prevents the municipality of any criminal action or the recovery of fruitless and wasteful expenditure against the senior managers.
