Officials from George Municipality had their hands full this past 72 -ours as a cold front with strong to gale force winds hit the region on Sunday.
The George Emergency Call Centre was also inundated with hundreds of calls and the electrotechnical teams attended to 110 high voltage and 65 low voltage complaints in Wilderness, Hoekwil, Thembalethu and George as hundreds of residents were without power.
A total of 27 trees were either blown over or uprooted in several areas of George.
Three parked cars were also damaged by fallen trees.
A Tree fell on a parked vehicle in Stephen Street, George.
The Municipality also had to assist the community of Blanco by supplying 60 sandbags to eight households.
A total of 23 families from George, Haarlem and Touwsranted had to be assisted after the strong winds damaged the roofs of their homes.
Municipal Manager Trevor Botha thanked officials who worked under difficult conditions of load-shedding and severe weather conditions.
