George man arrested after mutilating two year-old boy

A 33-year old Southern Cape man has been arrested the attempted murder of a two-year-old boy from Woltemade Street in Rosemoor, George.

Police report that the child was rushed to the Red Cross Children's hospital in Cape Town on Thursday night for urgent medical treatment after his private parts were physically removed with a pair of scissors and were left hanging by a thread.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the mother of the boy ran out of her house with the blood-stained child,  reporting that her partner had cut the boy’s penis with a pair of scissors.

The boy was rushed to the George hospital from where he was immediately transferred to the Red Cross Children's hospital in Cape Town in a critical condition due to the loss of blood.

The Conville police were alerted and arrested the 33  year-old suspect after he initially tried to evade arrest.

He's been held in custody and will appear in the George Magistrate's court next Wednesday on a charge of attempted murder.

Eden Cluster Commander, Major General Oswald Reddy and the station commander of Conville,  Colonel  Avril Kriga have both condemned this barbaric act.
