George elderly attacked by gardener

 Police in George are searching for a man who attacked an elderly woman with a garden fork, leaving her hospitalised.

Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says the 66-year-old woman was attacked in her Hope Street home on Friday, allegedly by a man she hired to do her gardening.

He says the woman tried to fight off her attacker, suffering facial and body injuries as a result.

Pojie says the woman is in a serious condition in hospital.
