George calls for an end to vandalism of bus service

Supplied

George Municipality says vandalism of the Go George bus service cost the City R544 470 since April last year to repair broken windows.

The Municipality said during this period, 38 incidents of stone-throwing were recorded targeting their buses.

Go George manager, Morne' Lackay, said vandalism of the bus service remains a serious concern.

He said damaged vehicles have to be taken out of service, placing pressure on the existing fleet.

Lackay said the acts of vandalism often occur as a prank and may not be seen as a crime.

However, he warned that damaging public property remains a criminal offence and culprits would  be treated as such.

(George Municipality said It costs R19 100 to replace this window)
