A businessman from George convicted of raping his biological daughter was sentenced to life in the George Regional Court on Thursday.
The 42-year-old man was earlier found guilty of repeatedly raping his daughter between 2012 and 2015.
The victim was 14-years-old when her father raped her for the first time. The suspect then continually raped her at their home or at his business premises in George.
The Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie says the teenager told her grandmother which lead to the arrest of her father.
Magistrate JH Breyl ordered that the accused cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter.
Apart from the life sentence the accused was sentenced to another 12 months imprisonment on charges of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and 24 months imprisonment on two charges of child abuse.
The sentences will run concurrently.
