A pastor from a local church in Dysseldorp in the Garden Route was sentenced to an effective 25 years behind bars for raping teenage twins in 2018.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the 50-year-old Freddie Jaftha was recently sentenced in the Oudtshoorn Regional Court.
He says the teenagers, who were 16-years-old at the time went to Jaftha's church to ask for help with a personal matter when he took advantage of them.
Jaftha raped the girls on separate occasions in May of 2018.
Sergeant Spies says the one twin told her mother about the incident in January of 2019 which was then concurred by the sister.
He says the pastor was arrested and subsequently found guilty and charged.
Jaftha was sentenced to 25 and 15 years respectively but the sentences will run concurrently.
