Several hiking trails in the Garden Route have been temporarily closed due to rain.
Manager for the Garden Route National Park Megan Taplin says it is great to see rivers overflowing, but trails in Diepwalle and Harkerville need to be closed in order to protect Hikers and nature walkers.
The closures include the world famous Outeniqua trail.
Taplin says they will continue to monitor the situation.
Rain measured in Diepwalle was at 30mm over the Easter weekend and another 30mm last weekend. In the Harkerville forest, 20,5mm was measured overnight on Easter Monday until Tuesday morning.
Measurements around the Knysna estuary were at 47mm from last Monday until the 23rd of April.
Rain measured in the Storms River Village amounted to 40mm for the Easter Weekend according to Senior Section Ranger, Eugenia Mkhatshwa. She said no trails are closed in Tsitsikamma and the situation is being monitored.
According to Marine Ranger for the Wilderness section of the Park, Jonathan Britton, trails in Wilderness remain open.
The Karoo National Park also closed all routes in the park due to wet conditions.
A spokesperson for SANParks Fayroush Ludick says 50 mm of rain was measured since Monday n the Mountain View area of the park.
