The Garden Route Food Pantry in George may have to close its doors permanently if it does not get support within the next two months.
The pantry was established in January last year to help supply the food needs along the Garden Route.
Managing director, Carl van Blerk says the region has suffered natural disasters and severe food shortages over the last few years.
He says they are in need of donations in order to provide food relief to those affected.
The facility currently supports more than 200 soup kitchens and feeding centers across the entire district.
Van Blerk says more than 52 000 families in the area live below the breadline, many with no income at all, and they rely on community feeding systems.
He says more than 27% of children under the age of five are officially classified as malnourished and the closure of the Food Pantry will be yet another disaster along the Garden Route.
