Gangster shot outside PE primary school


A  29 year old known gangster was shot and wounded outside a primary school in Shauderville Port Elizabeth, just before 8 o'clock on Friday morning. 

The man had just dropped off his fiancé, a teacher at the school, and as he drove out the school gates, shots were fired from a white VW Golf.

Police Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the man sustained three bullet wounds to his left shoulder and was taken to hospital for treatment. 

No suspects have been arrested yet and police are investigating a case of attempted murder.


In another suspected gang-related incident, a 19 year old youth is expected to appear in a Port Elizabeth court soon on 2 charges of attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm 

Colonel Naidu says its alleged that at about quarter past six on Thursday evening, the 25 year-old complainant was walking down a road in Bethelsdorp when the suspect approached him and opened fire.

Police heard the gunshots and immediately responded. The suspect also fired at police.

A chase ensued on foot and the suspect was apprehended when he ran into a house and tried to hide in a bed. 

A Norinco 9mm firearm was confiscated by police and the teenager was arrested. 

No-one was injured during the incident.
