Gang unit probes murder of PE teen

The Provincial Gang Investigation Unit is probing the murder of a teenager who was shot dead in Helenvale, Port Elizabeth, this week.

Police said that 17-year-old Zavier Jassen sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the body of the Gelvandale High School learner was found in a street in Helenvale on Wednesday.

She said the motive for the shooting is still unknown and no arrests have been made.

Jassen is reportedly the nephew of a Nelson Mandela Bay local government councillor.
