The Gang unit in Port Elizabeth has launched a manhunt for a gang affiliate who killed a 2-year-old child in Helenvale, in the cities Northern Areas.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Akiem Baartman was playing in the street when he was struck by a bullet in the head.
She says a 17-year-old teenager was sitting on the steps of his house in Hartbees Street on Saturday afternoon when a suspect approached him and started firing.
The teenager started running and sustained a gunshot wound to his neck.
Police says the incident is gang-related and has condemned the killing of yet another innocent child.
They are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder
