Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, officially launched free wireless Internet in George on Monday morning. This will connect up to 20 000 residents to affordable Internet.
Residents will have access to 150mb free Internet per device per day.
The minister said he hopes that residents and businesses will be able to use this to further their education, digital literacy and to promote local tourism as the high cost of data has prevented many residents from accessing the internet
In its second phase the Eden project will connect residents in areas including the George CBD taxi rank, the Sedgefield CBD, Wilderness Beach and the Rosemore Community Hall.
This will go live next month. Louise Karsten Algoa fm news george
