Freddie Gordon case postponed to March

Flight sergeant Frederick Gordon, who was found guilty last year of brutally assaulting his wife Avril and holding her captive in their Forest Hill flat, has made another appearance in the Port Elizabeth magistrates court.

Five more witnesses from the defence force testified on his behalf during pre-sentencing proceedings on Friday morning.

They were among the 59 character witnesses that Gordon seconded to testify on his behalf.

Three witnesses told the court that Gordon did get aggressive when under the influence of alcohol.

The court was unable to trace the last few witnesses also requested to testify.

Magistrate Chris Kruger told Gordon that if the court could not locate them by the next date, final sentencing would still proceed.

The matter was postponed until the 6th and 7th of March.
