Eastern Cape Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, says the Bhisho government is determined to root out the cancer of fraud and corruption in local government.
Addressing a portfolio committee of the National Council of Provinces today, Qoboshiyane, said they plan to vett all employees in senior management service and those in strategic areas such as Supply Chain Management.
The MEC told the committee that Bhisho is aiming for 100% disclosure of conflicts of interests.
Qoboshiyane says Good Governance is one of four key performance areas identified by the Eastern Cape Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs this financial year.
