A four-year-old boy has been admitted to the Mossel Bay Provincial Hospital with stab wounds following an incident in Wolwedans in Great Brak River.
Police spokesperson, Captain Laurianne Botha, said that the 23-year-old neighbour was arrested in connection with Tuesday afternoon's incident.
She said the was in the care of the suspect when the incident happened at a house in Wolwedans in Great Brak River.
Botha said the child's mother saw the injuries when the neighbour called her to fetch her child.
She said the child had open stab wounds to his arm, head, and back.
Botha said the suspect was arrested and a knife confiscated.
"She will remain in custody and will appear in the Great Brak Magistrates Court this week. Police are investigating a case of attempted murder," she said.
