Three young people have been shot and killed execution-style in the Walmer Township in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says a fourth person, an unknown female, is fighting for her life in hospital.
Police were patrolling in Yoyo Street at about 10.30 pm when they saw four people lying in a field next to a gravel road. On closer observation, it was found that all four of them sustained gunshot wounds to the head.
Two women and one man were declared dead on the scene.
Naidu says the man was identified as the 23-year-old Sinethemba Dumezweni from Walmer, but the identity of the two women is unknown at this stage.
Police are appealing to the community to assists them in identifying deceased women.
A72- hour activation plan has been launched to bring those responsible to book.
