Four people were injured in an attempted hijacking in Cotswold, Port Elizabeth, this morning.
The incident happened in Lewerkie Street.
Paramedics from the Traumanet ambulance service were at the scene.
A spokesperson for the service, Dean Slater, says one of the suspects injured himself with a firearm.
"One of the victims was shot, while two others were assaulted and allegedly bitten by the hijackers," Slater said. "In the ensuing fight, one of the hijackers allegedly shot himself, and ran away".
The three victims have been transported to hospital under advanced life support, Slater said.
