Eastern Cape police arrested four more suspects who were wanted for the mass shooting of eight people in Gqeberha at the end of January.
This brings to five the number of suspects behind bars for the shootings, which sparked a national outcry.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said the latest arrests were made on Monday night in Peelton near eQonce, by members of the Serious and Violent Crime Unit, and the Provincial Tracking Team.
He said investigators received a tip-off about the whereabouts of the men, who managed to evade arrest when an accomplice, Mzwandile Mahambehlala, was nabbed at Walmer Flats on 3 March.
Mahambehlala is due back in the dock next month, after making his first appearance in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court.
Kinana said his four alleged accomplices would be transported to Gqeberha to make their first court appearance on Thursday.
The victims of the deadly attack were brothers Vusumzi and Andile Sishuba, Kholekile France, Mbuyiseli Mboya, Nomatamsanqa Mandla, Liyema Poro, Nandipha Koliti, while Thando Fibi died a few days later in hospital.
