Four people were killed, and 11 others injured following a head-on collision on the R72 at Kidds Beach near East London on Tuesday night.
Eastern Cape provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell says the accident happened a 6 pm.
It is alleged that an Isuzu Double Cab overtook two vehicles, travelling in the same direction, on a double white solid line.
Bramwell says in the process of overtaking the Isuzu hit an oncoming light delivery vehicle (LDV) head on.
One vehicle lost control and went down an embankment.
Four people were killed including both drivers.
Six people were critically injured, two slight injuries and two minor injuries.
Rescue workers had to use the jaws of life to free the passengers.
The road was closed for several hours.
On Monday a man was killed on the same stretch of road when he also allegedly overtook a vehicle on a double line. The driver of a Hyundai 120 hit an oncoming truck and died at the scene.
