Four people were killed in two separate road accidents in the Eastern Cape on Thursday evening.
The provincial Transport Department says in the first accident, a vehicle with five occupants veered off the R61, about 8km outside of Tarkastad towards Cradock and hit a tree.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says three people were declared dead at the scene.
He says the other two were injured and taken to hospital.
Binqose says in the second accident at around midnight, a heavy-duty truck carrying a tipper truck overturned on the N2 in the Kei Cuttings.
He says the driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle died at the scene.
