Four killed in head-on collision outside PE

Four people were killed following a head-on collision on the N2 outside of Port Elizabeth on Friday night.

A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Charles Bramwell says a light motor vehicle, with a Cape Town registration number, collided head-on with a Translux bus travelling from Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown.

He says the accident happened at about half 6.30 pm near Nanaga.

It is alleged that the vehicle entered a no-entry zone and drove straight into the oncoming bus.

Bramwell says the driver of the car and three of his passengers were trapped inside the wreckage and had to be removed with the Jaws of life.

The victims were two women and a man in their thirties, including a 10-year-old boy.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released.

Nineteen passengers in the Translux bus were injured and taken to different hospitals in the Metro.
