Four people were killed and 15 others sustained injuries in an accident between a mini-bus taxi and a car in East London.
Provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, says the accident happened at about 7.45 am between Hemingways and Gonubie, severely disrupting morning traffic.
He says the Department's appealing to motorists to exercise caution as the roads are wet and slippery.
Binqose says several accidents have been reported as a result of the rain.
Al four victims in Monday morning's accident were all female passengers in the minibus taxi.
Police say the women are all believed to be in their thirties.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
