The Provincial Organised Crime Unit is investigating a dramatic shooting incident that left four people dead and a fifth injured.
The shooting incident happened at 11 am on Thursday in Johnson Street in Zwide, Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says when police arrived on the scene they found two stationary vehicles, a blue Suzuki and Opel Kadett, riddled with bullets with the bodies of three men lying in the street.
He says another victim believed to be the driver of the Opel Kadett was also dead.
Brigadier Kinana says the fifth victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Two firearms were also confiscated at the scene and will be sent for ballistic testing to see if they had been used in the commission of other crimes.
The motive for the murders is unknown at the stage and police are investigating.
No arrests have been made and the names and ages of the victims have not yet been released.
