Police in Scenery Park in East London are probing the murders of four adults found shot to death.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, says community members alerted police after the bodies were found in Phase Three in Scenery Park on Monday evening.
She says when police arrived they found the deceased were three men and a woman, aged between 20 and 29.
Soci says they all had gunshot wounds to the upper body, while a fifth person survived and is receiving treatment in hospital.
She says according to the survivor, the group was ambushed by four men, however, she says he was unable to provide any description or other information that could assist the police investigation.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist in unravelling this case, to come forward.
