Four in court for theft of R7m from EC municipality

Four people arrested for allegedly stealing R7m from the Lukanji Municipality in Queenstown have been granted bail in the town's magistrate's court.
The four appeared in court on Tuesday and were granted bail of R20 000 each.
Police spokesperson, lieutenant Pumzile Makaula, said Andisiwe Mrwebi, 32, an IT manager in the Department of Social Development based in East London and Lady Grey municipality clerk, Buhle Mayeza,29, paid their bail and were released.
In a statement late on Wednesday, lieutenant Makaula said the other two suspects, Simphiwe Makhasi ,30, a police clerk at Molten and Lady Grey police constable Thulani Mkefu, 31, did not pay bail and were still in custody.
